Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have since been charged with committing over a million dollars’ worth of fraud following a suit filed in February. Turner was arrested on May 23 and taken into custody at that time.

A warrant for Kingston’s arrest was issued earlier that day, leading to his arrest later that same day. He had been out of state for a performance in California when his home was raided, according to PEOPLE.

“This evening, police in Fort Irwin, Calif., arrested Kisean Anderson, aka Sean Kingston, without incident on a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant for numerous fraud and theft charges,” the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed at the time of his arrest.Sean Kingston is facing a series of charges (Johnny Louis/Getty Images)

The “Eenie Meenie” singer has been booked into Florida’s Broward County jail, with a judge setting his bail at $100,000. According to jail records, the 34-year-old Kingston was booked into the jail on Sunday (June 2). Meanwhile, his mother was being held on Friday (May 31) at the same jail on a $160,000 bond.

The booking followed initial thoughts that Kingston would be booked into a California jail, but he agreed to be extradited to Florida.

Specific details of Kingston’s and Turner’s alleged crimes were not included in the warrants, but documents claim that from October to March, they stole almost $500,000 in jewelry, over $200,000 from Bank of America, $160,000 from an Escalade dealer, more than $100,000 from First Republic Bank, $86,000 from the maker of customized beds, and other unspecified amounts. Following their arrest, Kingston and his mother have been charged with conducting an organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, identity theft, and related crimes, according to arrest warrants released by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Kingston and his mother’s lawyer, Robert Rosenblatt, said they looked forward to addressing the charges in a Florida court and are confident of a successful resolution. At the time of Kingston’s arrest, he was already serving a two-year probation sentence for trafficking stolen property.
