In 2017 and 2019, two separate incidents saw a baby boy and a baby girl abandoned in a park in London, both believed to be siblings. Despite efforts to track down their parents, they remain unidentified.
Now, in January 2024, another child has been found abandoned in Newham, London. Named Baby Elsa, the infant was found in a shopping bag by a member of the public walking their dog.
DNA testing has confirmed that Baby Elsa is the full sibling of the previously abandoned babies, known as Baby Harry and Baby Roman. Metropolitan Police are appealing for help in identifying their parents.
All three children are of black ethnicity. CCTV footage shows a woman wearing a dark coat with a light-colored scarf or hood and carrying a rucksack, shortly before Baby Elsa was found.
Detective Inspector Jamie Humm from the North East Command Unit stated that efforts to locate the parents have been unsuccessful so far. Despite the lifting of reporting restrictions by Judge Carol Atkinson due to the public interest in the case, efforts have been made to ensure the welfare and privacy of the children are maintained.
DI Humm emphasized the importance of providing support to the mother and urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
